Development and Zoning Code. Hearing Examiner Services. Land Use Representation.
Specializing in Land Use Law, Karl’s primary focus is on using his knowledge and experience to draft, amend, and review development codes for municipalities throughout the Northwest. Karl also represents clients of all sizes through the application and approval process for a myriad of land use applications all over the region. In addition to his rigorous work on development codes, and his skilled representation of clients through development applications, Karl also serves as a Hearing Examiner for one of the fastest growing regions in the United States, Kootenai County, Idaho.
Karl’s experience representing clients, writing and reviewing code, and as a Hearing Examiner, has provided him with invaluable insight into the unnecessary difficulties created by poorly written, antiquated, or otherwise patchworked and contradictory development codes. Karl knows first-hand the frustration and uncertainty these situations cause and is why he now focuses his practice on improving these codes.
As a private citizen, Karl is also a member of the Spokane Valley Planning Commission. He and the other commissioners study and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council for future planned growth through continued review of the City’s comprehensive land use plan, development regulations, shoreline management, environmental protection, public facilities, capital improvements, and other matters as directed by the City Council.
